By Felix On August 26, 2010 Under Blog Marketing, BloggingYou may already knew the benefits of blog commenting. And you maybe doing this blog commenting techniques to help your blog rank higher on search engines.
The truth is that, most bloggers who does blog commenting to make their blog rank higher on search engines did it the wrong way. How?
Here is the situation, if your purposed of blog commenting is to only get noticed and get few referral traffic from the blog you commented, it is okay for you and for me that you post comments on any blogs you want.
But if you aim to help your blog to get rank higher on search engine via building backlinks using blog commenting, you should have these techniques.
Search for a do follow blog that are related to your niche:
You may already knew some blogs that are related to your niche and do commenting on their blogs. But, are they do follow blogs? You already knew the benefits that a do follow blogs can give you. So you find those follow blogs?
1. Install these tools first.
No dofollow: This firefow addons is a tool that will determine if a blog you visited is a do follow blog or not. Get the firefox plugin on this link. Download and install it in your firefox browser.
SEO Quake: This tool is very useful in determining the pagerank and inbounds of a certain blog that you visited. Go get it here. Download and install it in your firefox browser.
2. Search for related blogs.
Searching blogs that are related to your topics is very easy to do and comes in various ways. To begin with, follow the steps below and make a list.
Using Google:
- Go to Google.com and type the keyword you promote in your blog.
- List those blogs or websites that are on search result pages.
- To sort it to only blogs appear on the results, click the “blog” link below the tab of your browser before hitting enter.
Using Blog Directories:
- Visit those blog directories that your blog is already submitted.
- Search on their categories to find more related blogs.
- Don’t forget these two great two directories: Technorati.com and Blog Catalog.com
Using Google Alerts:
This google features will give you the updates of the blog that are related to your niche.
- Go to Google.com/alerts and fill in the provided box with your blog keyword.
- Also set how often you get updated whether on daily or weekly basis.
- Don’t forget to place the email address where the updates would be sent.
The Procedure:
You know now how to find those related blog of yours. Your next step is take action on visiting each of those blogs and determine if they are do follow and got at least the page rank of 1 or 2.
List down at least 30 – 50 blogs to comment using the keyword as your name that would serve as your back links to your blog.
How to Comment.
Make sure that you post useful comments, so that you will not treat as spammer. After you write your comment, post a closing message together with your real name on every comment you made.
If you blog about dog training and exercise, you also comment on dog exercise blog post or related post. As for example, you would likely post a comment similarly like the example below:
Hello there,
Thank you very much for this great information about dog exercise and training. This really helps to become our dogs remain healthy and happy.
I must say that dog walking and running is the best exercise every morning as you also the owner will do your jogging at the same time.

My Words and Tips:
Post comments for at least 5 blogs a day to build your backlinks natural for google. And you have more time for social media promotion also.
If you still want to do more blog commenting after you build your 5 backlinks a day, use your real name to make connections and relationship with other commentators and the owner of the blog.
Week by week, slowly increased the quantity of your blog’s backlinks. But please… Don’t overdue it, or else google will punish your blog or you just wasting your effort in commenting on those blogs without crediting the links to your site.
In The End…
I hope you like my post and tips regarding the blog commenting techniques that would benefit your blog.

Hi Felix,
Great info. I use Google Chrome and there is a great extension called SEO Site Tools that makes it real easy to find DoFollow links. Just turn on the option and it will indicated NoFollow links in red on all web pages until you turn it back off.
Btw – what is your Twitter profile name. The link in your sidebar didn’t work for me. Let me know when you get a chance. Thanks!

Hi Felix,
Firefox users can also install Quirk’s searchstatus toolbar extension. It does both functions of the two you mentioned plus it shows the Google pagerank and Alexa rating of the site right on the status bar.

Nice strategy you mention here. I am also trying to build backlinks through blog commenting and it does work great so far. However I rather rely on KeywordLuv in order to build backlinks because that way you can use your own name and still build targeted backlinks to your blog.

Promoting the use of keywords instead of names is not a good idea as it does nothing to stop people from spamming. I always recommend that if there’s a commenting policy in place, you ought to read it before commenting. Lord knows I’ve trashed plenty of comments for failing to follow my commenting policy.

In my side, I always read the article first before to comment so I can also relate with the topics. Regarding the use of keywords as your name, there are also blogs who use commentluv plugins that you can put your keywords after your name.
But if the blog don’t use the plugin, I used my keywords and sometimes my name that link to my about me page. When I use the keyword as a name, I will make sure that my comments can benefit and connect to other readers and put my name at the end of my comment.
Just like writing a letter to your friends. Thanks for sharing your ideas my friend.

I prefer the use of Name | Keyword instead of just Keyword even if the commentator leaves his/her real name @ the end of the comment. Then again it all depends on the bloggers commenting policy.
Thanks for the link man. I’ll check it out as soon as I can. I’m at work right now
Cheers. Have a great week ahead

I gor the codes but the one I really needed for my fan page wasn’t no good as it involved inviting most of my fb friends to join my page. Unfortunately 95% of my FB don’t care about blogging/making money online so I’d be a big jerk to invite them to such. lol
Anyway, you’ve been of much help and I TOTALLY appreciate you and we could so be good friends

Thank you for a very informative post, I particularly like the point that comments should be useful and add value to the blog, otherwise it’s just spam. Blog commenting is an effective and valuable part of a well developed link building strategy which should include adding your URL to quality directories as well as creating quality and informative article content then submitting to article directories.

The add on for firefox is great. Just what I was looking for.
Blog commenting is a new tactic which I test for my self now. I began to love blog commenting because I visit a lot of interesting blogs and I read a lot of interesting information, and you leave a comment and take some value for your blog as link back to your site. This is a win/win situation.

PageRank is an algorithim google invented that assesses the strength of a website. The algorithim evaluates a site on a scale of n/a to 10 with 0 being the lowest/weakest and 10 being the highest/strongest. We can check our site’s rank by using a checker pagerank tool.

Hi Sonia,
Pagerank is really valuable but sometimes this PR can be syndicated by anybody that why I am thinking that it has now less of value because most websites that has high PR don’t have that quality content and those low PR site have great content. That’s only my opinion.

Some webmasters see the value of page in the page rank which is not always true. In this way they dismiss the links of the website. I have seen pages which have a PR 4 that had only 3 links pointing to this pages and I have seen pages PR 0 that have hundreds of links pointing to that page. This kind of PR 0 pages can outrank pages that are PR 4 in this way.
