Niche Site Duel 008: Factors To Increase Your Rankings!
I’ve been in the niche marketing field since 2010. But I am still struggling to be on the first page of search engine – Google. I am thinking that I pick the wrong niche where I can’t beat my competition.
Because of that, I tried to compete with them by building more backlinks than they have. What I have noticed on every time I build links for my niche website, my website got rank lower. I was really upset and wondering why. So I stop building backlinks on it and do another research for another niche to cover.
Since then, I seldom visit the niche site and still finding another niche which ends up to nothing is found. What I do for me to make money online is working with other online businesses, shall we say I became a Virtual Assistant.
When I visited and update the rankings of my niche site, I was surprise that website ranking got higher even though I haven’t build some backlinks around. Today, I want to share to you what I have done and what are the key factors for us niche marketers achieve good rankings into our niche websites.
1. Build Valuable Content.
People use search engines to find valuable contents which could answer their queries or can solve their problems. What I’ve noticed is that, even though you build as many backlinks in your website, it is still not enough to be the basis that your website is worth to be rank on their search engine result pages.
Many have taught us that, search engines ranks webpages or website base to the quantity of the backlinks we have in our website but I am thinking that it is just a myth. I learn that search engines can also filter the quality of the content not just because it is unique or something else, but it’s because of the value or usefulness of the information.
I learn from a friend that he was emailed by one of Google staff - Matt Cutts. Maybe some of you don’t know him but he is the head engineer of Google Spam team. They are the team who was assigned in filtering good results to search engine queries. Matt Cutts ask him if his content is unique because he noticed that my friend’s blog content is very valuable where many of his readers give good comments on his new blog post.
2. Having an Admin Pages.
Admin pages are the pages that benefits both your readers and your website. These pages are the privacy policy, sitemap, terms of use, about, disclaimers and others which is mostly posted in the bottom of your website. See yahoo.com and you will find their admin page in the bottom of their website.
This will tell Google that your website is worthy and based on the content of your admin pages, they will recognize you as an authority in your niche. Have you seen other niche website having admin pages? I seldom found one. So build yours today.
3. Deep-Linking.
Link linking is an SEO strategy that links other articles or contents inside your website. You may also want to link your homepage on each of your article created – which is I think the best thing to do because we are trying to rank our homepage.
On each article we created, we want to also rank that content as well so make sure that it is also a good content where your readers can get value on it.
4. Good SEO Application.
Beside from doing deep linking, having a good SEO application is also helpful to immediately categorized your website. Use the proper meta tags and take note of the quantity of characters you are using.
For titles, make sure that your alphabet characters won’t exceed 71 characters including spaces. Also use a good description for about your site and also take note for the characters – approximately 150 characters and don’t put many keyword terms in your keyword tags for this will make your website confusing and ugly to search engine because you don’t have focus.
On every post you create, take note on the keyword phrase you are using. Shall we say, “http://www.YourDomainName.com/keyword-terms” is a great way to use as your permalink of your newly publish content.
5. Consistency.
You maybe already heard about consistency and many also failed to be consistent including me (honestly). It is said that consistency is one of the key factors to success. I believe that it depends on the situation you are currently standing. Have you seen niche websites that got good rankings without even updating their website for a long while?
I’ve seen a lot and from what I see, they are more active at monetizing and promoting their website in a consistent basis. So what I have noticed is that, once you have set your website content and you think that content which is place in your website is highly valuable, it will surely rank well. Promise! By the way, your website must have at least 10 – 12 blog posts.
6. Neat and Clean.
A neat and clean website makes your readers like it because they can see that you put purely content on it. Maybe you can add some monetization techniques you think is appropriate like adsense and 1 affiliate banner ad.
But what I have noticed is that, most niche website is monetize through affiliate marketing via email marketing promotion. That means, you have to also build your list. If you found out that you can’t a good product to promote, you can use adsense or create a product in your niche market. Make sure that your content is easy to read with good color combination.
Conclusion.
Before building and investing into a niche market, make sure that you have some knowledge about it (you can make some research on it) – which sometimes can lead you find the passion about the topic.
Also take a good observation about your competition and the profitability of the niche market. This way, you will know how you can beat your competition and how you will monetized your niche website.
In the end, I hope this article helps you and I apologize for not making an update about it. It is just I am kinda busy with my niche website and other Virtual Assisting works. Thank you and let’s get into action today!
